August has been extremely hot with temperatures above 100 degrees, several days in a row. My garden is hot and dry. It seems there is not enough water to parch it's thirst. It doesn't help that I have injured my ankle and will be non-weight bearing for 6 more weeks. Surgery was a week ago, today.
We've been keeping busy, though. Last week, my husband and I saw a newscast that a local children's baseball team had been embezzled out of money that was to be used for trophies and an end of the year banquet. We did a little research and decided to make plaques for the kids and present them at the end of this month. We are so excited to be able to bring some cheer to the kids and be part of their special day. The plaques should be finished by the end of next week, and I hope to post a picture of them soon.

- My interest in gardening began when I was a little girl. I discovered if I put flower seeds in a little patch of dirt, flowers would grow. So I would plant seeds in all areas of my parents' shrubbery gardens. So the love began and grew over the years. Now I live on 5 acres. Wherever I think a garden will thrive, I dig and plant.
