New Flower Bed

I have been working very hard to add new flowerbeds to my five acres. This is one of the latest additions. It is filled mostly with different varieties of hosta, lamium, and periwinkle annuals to fill in. I also have a new clematis which is still very small at the bottom of the trellis. Making new flower gardens is a lot of hard work, but is so rewarding!

Hail Storm

Last night we had a hail storm that I thought would never end. It was too dark to see if it was damaging my flowers. But, I could see that it was quarter-size, and coming down hard. I go to work in the mornings when it is still dark, so I had to wait until this afternoon to check out the damage. It wasn't as bad as I thought. My cannas got the worst of it, many leaves were split, but the plants will live. A few daylily blooms were blown off, but the stalks still stand. I guess we were very lucky, because all of my other flowers had little to no damage. The forecast calls for more storms tonight. I hope we can hold out another one.
